This documentary, set in a psychiatric hospital in Egypt, opens with a policeman and his father being interviewed by a psychiatrist as the policeman is being admitted. The doctor asks the father, "Is he a policeman?" The father replies, "He used to be," and breaks down in tears over what his son once was and what he has become. All stories are told directly by patients and their families, with no added narration or judgment passed on the storytellers. In this film, the words speak for themselves.
Registration is not required. Each program in the series includes a featured film, a post-film discussion, and light refreshments. For additional information contact the Center for Global Health, cgh@pitt.edu. Sponsored by the Global Health Student Association and the Center for Global Health.
